(hide this warning on this page)The CISAB Mechanisms of Behavior Core Laboratory is a core facility offered by the Center for the Integrative Study of Animal Behavior (CISAB) at Indiana University Bloomington.
We operate as a non-profit recharge center for internal users. We provide the supplies and reagents required to perform a variety of common molecular and endocrine techniques, which we then bill at cost to IU research grants upon completion. These include hormone extraction, enzyme immunoassay (EIA/ELISA), nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and quantitative PCR. We also provide access to a variety of specialized laboratory equipment, at little to no cost to internal users.
The laboratory director provides users with individualized training on how to use the equipment and/or perform billable techniques themselves. Possibilities also exist for collaborations in which certain techniques may be performed by lab personnel.
Approved external users may be permitted to use lab equipment and/or perform billable techniques at 33% mark-up. General lab maintenance and equipment repair are subsidized by the Center for the Integrative Study of Animal Behavior.
