Clinical & Translational Support Lab (CTSL)

Overview of Services

The Clinical and Translational Support Lab (CTSL) was created and organized to support laboratory processing across the CTSI and partner institutions.  The mission of the lab is to provide a central service that will benefit clinical and translational studies by offering cost efficient processing services and providing consistent quality and sample integrity.  Our model allows flexibility in order to be more responsive to unique study requirements as compared to clinical laboratories.  The CTSL maintains two secondary laboratory facilities for study personnel who wish to do their own processing to ensure that studies not utilizing CTSL processing services will have a processing environment with reliable equipment and procedures to comply with all applicable safety regulations to add quality value to investigator processing.

The CTSL serves the clinical and translational community by providing:

  • Protocol processing set up, label design and blood collection kit preparation
  • Protocol specific blood and body fluid processing
  • Specimen send-out services
  • Short-term storage (Long term storage available through the Specimen Storage Facility)
  • Facility/ equipment oversight and maintenance for secondary processing labs (CRC and CCRC labs)
